Making his Major League debut, Braves right hander Matt Wisler was outstanding on Friday against the Mets, as he picked up his first career win. The 22-year-old limited the Mets to one run on six hits over eight brilliant innings. He struck out two and did not issue a walk.

"I honestly felt more calm than I probably should have out there," Wisler said, per MLB.com. "I kept telling myself, 'Don't get too comfortable, because it's going to burn you.'"

The only run the rookie gave up came on an RBI single by Michael Cuddyer in the sixth inning. The last Braves to pitch eight innings in his big-league debut was Hall-of-Famer John Smoltz in 1988, against the Mets, according to the Braves radio network.

Wisler more-than-likely earned himself at least one more start, and he'll take his next turn on Thursday on the road against the Nationals.
